Chasing the rough stuff!

Richmond, IL

The Fall Cycling Classic. The European Spring Classics aren't famous for scenery; they’re famous for suffering. This fall, we’re bringing that same raw intensity to the Midwest.

Many events strive to find the best roads, we did the opposite. The focus will not be on the beautiful backdrops of the golden farm fields and changing leaves. The pristine, tree-lined farm roads a distant memory.  This ride is about the UNROAD—those forgotten sectors of broken pavement, grinding gravel, and raw dirt. The sectors will be announced, rated, and the fastest over some of the sectors will earn preme prizes from local businesses.

This is mile 15 of the Classic Course. Cannot make this up!

Richmond IL is positioned at the crossroads of Chicago and Madison, Milwaukee and Rockford.  It shares the famous endless fields of grain of Illinois and the lightly rolling cow pastures of southern Wisconsin.

The Courses

The 50mi "Classic"

Richmond Rampage’s flagship distance. A relentless mix of sectors with varying difficulty. We laced up the finest gravel trails and unmaintained roads of McHenry county for riders to outlast. If you want the full "Unroad" experience, this is it.

The 50km (31mi) "Taster"

If you want to see what it's all about, this is your ride. This course leaves out the more rugged terrain and consists of 60% pavement, 25% crushed limestone, & 15% loose gravel.

With your registration Richmond Rampage will donate to the repair/rebuild of the century old wooden George Street Bridge.  It is the final remaining wooden car/pedestrian bridge over what once was the Fox Valley Railroad that went into operation in 1854. Now the rails have turned to trails for us cyclist to enjoy.  Yet the George Street Wooden bridge has become a forgotten part of turn of the century Americana. One of these years we will finish riding over it.  Also your registration will donate to the Richmond-Spring Grove Food Pantry. You will have an opportunity in the registration add ons to further support these causes.
