A serene river scene at sunset, with calm water reflecting the cloudy sky. Forested hills flank the river on both sides, and a swimmer with a yellow float is visible in the distance.

“I had lost my love for triathlon,
but this weekend of swimming, biking, and running in the mountains showed me how much I still love multisport and the multisport community.”

Itinerary

This itinerary is packed with a variety of workouts. We encourage participants to pick and choose activities like they are at a buffet. The goal of the weekend is to hang out, have fun, and not go home injured.

Thursday afternoon check-in begins at 3pm ahead of our opening splish splash and dash at 4pm.  After a little warm up swimmers will do a series of short swims with beach entries and exits. Then the group will put on their run shoes and jog to the old airstrip. Here a series of fun 200m intervals will be completed. The day concludes with a welcome dinner at the Camp Henry dining hall.

Friday is when multisport gets reimagined.  The morning starts with a swim leaving from the boathouse swimming the center of the lake. The roughly 2 mile swim is a supported out and back.  Cap off the swim with breakfast fueling for the ever popular long brick.  A 50 mile bike loop broken up with a trail run in the middle consistently yields views that meddles with the heart and may make you forget of the challenges of the mountains you’re climbing.  Mid ride is the ridgeline trail hike/run. Options vary from an easier 4.5 mile route to a more aggressive 6.5 mi loop. Then there are those few that embark on the 11 mi figure 8 exploring both courses. Upon arriving back at camp there is campfire cooking and smores for a snack before dinner.  Dessert 1st!

Saturday morning starts out with a 90 min swim-run event.  The course consists of a 1/2 mile point to point swim followed by a 1 1/3 mile point to point run on gravel roads around camp Henry.  Then hop back into the Lake Logan for another swim.  After a few rounds of this, breakfast is an order. Post breakfast soak in the tranquility of the lake for a bit before it is onto the bike. The ride on tap is an out and back ride on beautiful mountain roads.  Just 3 miles out of Lake Logan the road pitches up and riders will climb past cascades and waterfalls as the road serpentines up to the crest of the Blue Ridge.  All will enjoy the view. Most will descend back to Lake Logan, but a hearty few will descend down to our support crew on the other side of the ridge. Here riders can refuel and attack yet another 2500’ climb heading back toward Lake Logan.

Sunday is the legendary 5 hour points event.  This is the essence of multisport fun. Some design their dream triathlon others will choose to bounce between their favorite two sports. Then there are those few that just stick to seeing how far they can go in 5 hours in a single sport. A 600 yard open water swim course, 11 1/2 mi bike course, and 2 1/4 mi run course will be supported for 5 hours.  Athletes will get a designated amount of points for completing each of the loops. The triathlon is followed up by lunch at the Camp Henry Dining center to close out the camp.
